This included securing the rights to use Willis’ Unbreakable character from Walt Disney Studios, with the commitment to include Disney in the production and distribution of this third film alongside Universal Pictures. Split was a financial and critical success, and in April 2017, Shyamalan announced that it was starting the production process for glass.
The film was released on January 18, 2019 by Universal Pictures in the US and by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures under the label Buena Vista International in international territories. Compared to a production budget of 20 million US dollars, more than 225 million US dollars were recorded worldwide. This makes it the second-strongest film of the year 2019. Glass received “generally unfavorable ratings”, with critics perceiving the film as “disappointing” and “oppressive”.
